The City of Ashtabula will be applying for a Neighborhood Revitalization Grant in 2016. We need your help...what would you like to see either at Clifford Kadon Presidential Park or throughout the neighborhood. If you live, work, or visit/play in the My Neighborhood area near downtown Ashtabula-- please take a few minutes to complete this survey. We have suggested some items for you to rate-- but we encourage any other ideas you might have. Thanks for your help on this important opportunity!
The Winter Crisis Program (Emergency HEAP) started November 2nd. During the first two weeks we will only be taking walk-ins at OhioMeans Jobs, 2247 Lake Avenue (Ashtabula Plaza) on Monday- Friday beginning at 8 am. Appointments will begin on November 16th and will be seen at our Community Action, 6920 Austinburg Road location. Walk-ins will continue at OhioMeans Jobs. Call the automated appointment line at 866-223-1471 to schedule an appointment. For more information call 2-1-1.

As the temperatures dip we would like to remind you about the HEAP Winter Crisis Program. If your gas or electric has been disconnected; if you have received a final disconnect notice; or you have less than a 10 day supply of bulk fuel you may qualify for assistance.
In 2014 we celebrated 50 years serving the community. 2015 promises to bring more growth and excitement– as we move full speed into our next 50 years!

New Hope- Part 5- Every day, Ashtabula County’s Community Action Agency is "Helping People. Changing Lives." With programs like New Hope, we are helping individuals and families transition into affordable housing while providing additional supportive services that improve and change their lives...
New Hope- Part 4- Homeless: “Living in a place not meant for human habitation.” This is the definition that guides our work with the New Hope Housing Program. Through the New Hope Housing Program, Ashtabula County Community Action Agency has found a way to assist homeless individuals in transition.
Ashtabula County’s Community Action Agency introduced the New Hope Housing Program over a decade ago. While the program has seen a few internal changes, the focus and goal of assisting individuals through transition has not.

New Hope- Part 1- During this colder time of year, many Ashtabula County residents find themselves in need of shelter. While many of us have access to a house or apartment where we can lock the door, turn on the heat and run hot water, few people realize the sheer number of our friends and family members who have no access to such comforts.
Action In Motion Academy- CDL Truck Driving School- Part 4- Currently there is a need for more than 45,000 drivers in the US right now, some estimates have the need at over 250,000 new drivers in the next 5 years. Today the average age of a truck driver is over 58 years old, nearly 60% can retire within the next 5 to 10 years.
We will be participating in the area holiday parades to spread the word about our programs and services. Watch for our staff, volunteers... and our big semi and trailer from our Action In Motion Academy CDL Truck Driving School!

"My Neighbrohood" members, area residents, and Lakeside High School Leadership students had a great day Saturday--- they picked up litter, cleared vacant lots and raked leaves on the streets surrounding Presidential Park! Thanks also to Ashtabula City and JP Ducro for their support of this event.
HWAP or Weatherization- Part 3- HWAP has weatherized more than 304,000 dwellings in Ohio since 1977. This will result in a reduction of 376 million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions, 840 thousand pounds of nitrogen oxide, and 2.3 million pounds of sulfur oxide.
The Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) is a no-cost energy assistance program designed to increase the energy efficiency of homes, reduce household energy expenditures, and improve health and safety.
HOME REPAIR- The third program that falls under our Home Repair-Special Programs is the United Way Minor Home Repair Program. This is for any Ashtabula County resident who needs a small home repair or handicap modification.
HOME REPAIR- Community Action Housing Services Home Repair Program is actually made up of 3 different programs that pull their funding from distinctive sources. The first highlighted program will be the Emergency Home Repair Program.
Ashtabula County Council on Aging will be having their "All County Picnic" August 22, 2014 at the Ashtabula County Fairgrounds in Jefferson from 11 am to 3 pm. This picnic is open to all Ashtabula County Senior Citizens, their caretakers and companions as well.
Head Start was created in 1965 as part of Lyndon B. Johnson's War on Poverty. Since its start as an 8-week summer program to help disadvantaged children become "school ready" Head Start has served 30 million children throughout the United States and its territories.
National Farmers Market Week

This week we celebrate Farmers Market Week. The Community Action WIC program provides coupons for eligible families to shop at area Farmers Markets.
Community Action’s Meals on Wheels Program currently has openings for qualified individuals in need of home delivered meals. Seniors aged 60 or over who are predominantly home-bound may qualify for the Meals on Wheels Program depending on ...their nutritional support systems and physical limitations.
Community Action Head Start will be starting enrollment the week of July 14th and continuing into August. This year a unique, convenient approach will allow children to obtain all necessary screenings, and parents to complete all necessary paperwork, in one easy visit.
