Input on Neighborhood Improvements Needed!

The City of Ashtabula will be applying for a Neighborhood Revitalization Grant in 2016. We need your help...what would you like to see either at Clifford Kadon Presidential Park or throughout the neighborhood. If you live, work, or visit/play in the My Neighborhood area near downtown Ashtabula-- please take a few minutes to complete this survey. We have suggested some items for you to rate-- but we encourage any other ideas you might have. Thanks for your help on this important opportunity!

The offices of Community Action will be closed November 26th & 27th in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. We will re-open Monday at our regularly scheduled time.

Winter Crisis Program Starts
November 7, 2015
The Winter Crisis Program (Emergency HEAP) started November 2nd. During the first two weeks we will only be taking walk-ins at OhioMeans Jobs, 2247 Lake Avenue (Ashtabula Plaza) on Monday- Friday beginning at 8 am. Appointments will begin on November 16th and will be seen at our Community Action, 6920 Austinburg Road location. Walk-ins will continue at OhioMeans Jobs. Call the automated appointment line at 866-223-1471 to schedule an appointment. For more information call 2-1-1.
NOTE**** There will be no Walk-Ins on November 11- the offices will be closed in observance of Veteran's Day.

My Neighborhood Canning Workshop

HEAP Winter Crisis Program

As the temperatures dip we would like to remind you about the HEAP Winter Crisis Program. If your gas or electric has been disconnected; if you have received a final disconnect notice; or you have less than a 10 day supply of bulk fuel you may qualify for assistance.

New Hope- Part 4- Homeless: “Living in a place not meant for human habitation.” This is the definition that guides our work with the New Hope Housing Program. Through the New Hope Housing Program, Ashtabula County Community Action Agency has found a way to assist homeless individuals in transition.

While many of us have access to a house or apartment where we can lock the door, turn on the heat and run hot water, few people realize the sheer number of our friends and family members who have no access to such comforts.

Action In Motion Academy- CDL Truck Driving School- Part 4- Currently there is a need for more than 45,000 drivers in the US right now, some estimates have the need at over 250,000 new drivers in the next 5 years. Today the average age of a truck driver is over 58 years old, nearly 60% can retire within the next 5 to 10 years.

"My Neighbrohood" members, area residents, and Lakeside High School Leadership students had a great day Saturday--- they picked up litter, cleared vacant lots and raked leaves on the streets surrounding Presidential Park! Thanks also to Ashtabula City and JP Ducro for their support of this event.

All County Senior Picnic

Ashtabula County Council on Aging will be having their "All County Picnic" August 22, 2014 at the Ashtabula County Fairgrounds in Jefferson from 11 am to 3 pm. This picnic is open to all Ashtabula County Senior Citizens, their caretakers and companions as well.

Community Action’s Meals on Wheels Program currently has openings for qualified individuals in need of home delivered meals. Seniors aged 60 or over who are predominantly home-bound may qualify for the Meals on Wheels Program depending on ...their nutritional support systems and physical limitations.

Enrollment for Fall 2014 Set to Begin!

Community Action Head Start will be starting enrollment the week of July 14th and continuing into August. This year a unique, convenient approach will allow children to obtain all necessary screenings, and parents to complete all necessary paperwork, in one easy visit.
