Input on Neighborhood Improvements Needed!

The City of Ashtabula will be applying for a Neighborhood Revitalization Grant in 2016. We need your help...what would you like to see either at Clifford Kadon Presidential Park or throughout the neighborhood. If you live, work, or visit/play in the My Neighborhood area near downtown Ashtabula-- please take a few minutes to complete this survey. We have suggested some items for you to rate-- but we encourage any other ideas you might have. Thanks for your help on this important opportunity!

Parade Time!

Community Action will be participating in the local parades again this holiday season.  This year our Action In Motion will have TWO trucks entered!  Come on out and enjoy the fun!

Winter Crisis Program Starts

November 7, 2015

The Winter Crisis Program (Emergency HEAP) started November 2nd. During the first two weeks we will only be taking walk-ins at OhioMeans Jobs, 2247 Lake Avenue (Ashtabula Plaza) on Monday- Friday beginning at 8 am. Appointments will begin on November 16th and will be seen at our Community Action, 6920 Austinburg Road location. Walk-ins will continue at OhioMeans Jobs. Call the automated appointment line at 866-223-1471 to schedule an appointment. For more information call 2-1-1.

NOTE**** There will be no Walk-Ins on November 11- the offices will be closed in observance of Veteran's Day.

My Neighborhood Canning Workshop

Announcing--- a special opportunity!! My Neighborhood has teamed up with the Ashtabula Local Food Council to present a Canning Workshop on Saturday, November 7th from 1-3 pm. Meteorological Fall began September 1st and it is an excellent time to apply for the Community Action Weatherization Program! To find out if you are eligible, to request an application, or for more information call 440-997-5957 or just dial 2-1-1.

HEAP Winter Crisis Program

As the temperatures dip we would like to remind you about the HEAP Winter Crisis Program.  If your gas or electric has been disconnected; if you have received a final disconnect notice; or you have less than a 10 day supply of bulk fuel you may qualify for assistance.

Action In Motion Academy- CDL Truck Driving School- Part 4- Currently there is a need for more than 45,000 drivers in the US right now, some estimates have the need at over 250,000 new drivers in the next 5 years. Today the average age of a truck driver is over 58 years old, nearly 60% can retire within the next 5 to 10 years.

HWAP or Weatherization- Part 3- HWAP has weatherized more than 304,000 dwellings in Ohio since 1977. This will result in a reduction of 376 million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions, 840 thousand pounds of nitrogen oxide, and 2.3 million pounds of sulfur oxide.

All County Senior Picnic

Ashtabula County Council on Aging will be having their "All County Picnic"  August 22, 2014 at the Ashtabula County Fairgrounds in Jefferson from 11 am to 3 pm. This picnic is open to all Ashtabula County Senior Citizens, their caretakers and companions as well.
